UNY WON MOST INNOVATIVE AWARD AT PETRA CIVIL EXPO 2021 EVENTS HELD BY UNIVERSITAS KRISTEN PETRA

In the series of "Petra Civil Expo 2021" competitions, there is a competition that focuses on the design of earthquake-resistant high-rise buildings, namely the "Earthquake Resistant Design Competition 2021" or abbreviated as ERDC. On this occasion, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta sent its best representative to join the Wisanggeni Abhipraya Team. There are three members, namely Fuziah Amina Wati as the team leader, M Fajar Amir and Damar Kusuma as members with one supervisor namely Maris Setyo Nugroho, M.Eng. This year, the theme being carried is "Overcome the Certain Uncertainty".

In the early stages, participants were asked to prepare a proposal which contained earthquake-resistant building designs and innovations designed by the team. The preparation of the proposal was carried out from February to March, to be precise, on March 12, 2021. The building design was designed using a Hybrid Structure, namely the structure uses Concentrically Braced Frames (CBF) and Eccentrically Braced Frames (EBF) which are used to achieve optimal levels of efficiency and rigidity. Furthermore, the work proposals and earthquake resistant building designs will be assessed by the judges. The 15 best teams will be selected to qualify for the next stage. Arriving at the announcement of the selection on March 26, 2021, one of the finalists who made it through was the Wisanggeni Abhipraya Team.

At this stage, the team that has passed is asked to prepare a mockup that was designed in the previous stage. In addition, the team was also asked to prepare presentation materials which would later be presented at the final stage. Preparations were made from March to May 2021. During this timeframe, the team made several building mockups to later be tested as an experiment to find out weaknesses in the design. After conducting the experiment, an actual mockup was made using the balsa wood that had been provided by the committee which would be sent to the committee for testing. On May 19 2021, team representatives headed to Universitas Kristen Petra to submit the mockups that had been made. From May 21 to May 23, 2021, the Final Day, a presentation and mock-up testing will be carried out using a shaking table. In the final assessment stage, the Wisanggeni Abhipraya Team won the Most Innovative category. The first and second positions were won by Warmadewa University and the third position was won by the National Institute of Technology.
