The Baruna-19 team from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta consisting of three members, namely Suryatama Ageng Pamuji, Rahardian Yusuf Yoga Pratama, and Silmi Kaffah with Supervisor Qonaah Rizqi Fajriani, S.T., M.Eng. began preparing for the competition since November by compiling proposals online with the 15 best teams selected. On December 17, 2020, the semi-finalists were announced and one of the finalists was Baruna-19 from UNY.

In the semifinal stage, participants will start compiling papers for one month with a deadline of January 19, 2021, online. After the semifinal stage, participants were selected into 5 teams which would continue their stage towards the final. On February 2, 2021, the announcement of the finalists arrived, and one of the five finalists was Baruna-19. At this final stage, participants were asked to compile papers on problem solving, make video visualizations of papers, and present papers and problem-solving papers. The activity took place for four days on March 1-4, 2021, which was carried out online via a zoom meeting.

This competition was attended by all universities in Indonesia. Of all the finalists who took part in the DAM Innovation Contest, Baruna-19 managed to win the 3rd place out of five finalists from Diponegoro University (1 team), Bandung Institute of Technology (2 teams), and Brawijaya University (1 team).
