PTSP DEPARTMENT OF FT UNY COLLABORATED WITH UTM TO CONDUCT URBAN ECOLOGY DISCOVERY WORKSHOP

On January 19th—20th 2019 an Urban Ecology Discovery Workshop was held at the PTSP FT UNY Department, which was a collaboration between the Department of Landscape Architecture Faculty of Engineering and Surveying Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the PTSP Department of the Faculty of Engineering UNY.

Participants were 25 undergraduate students majoring in PTSP, majors, 2 PTK postgraduate students, and 2 UTM PhD students who also served as facilitators. The students seemed very enthusiastic about participating in the workshop.

This activity aims to understand to students the importance of protecting our environment's habitat, be it flora and fauna, soil or water conservation. For civil engineering students, this is important so that when planning and implementing infrastructure development projects of any scale, they still consider the environment, as part of their responsibility to take part in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.

Workshop participants were also asked to participate in conveying and spreading the importance of awareness of protecting the environment to friends and the surrounding environment.
