CIVIL ENGINEERING STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS OF FT UNY HELD A PUBLIC LECTURE

FT UNY Civil Engineering Student Association Held a Public Lecture on April 11 2015 at the KPLT FT UNY Building. The Public Lecture themed "Implementation of Construction Management to Increase Project Effectiveness and Efficiency" which presented speakers from UGM Construction Management Lecturer, Toriq Arif Ghusdewan S.T., MSCE along with young contractors from PT. Prima Andalan Group. Students from STTNAS, UMY, UTY and FKMTSI (Forum Keluarga Mahasiswa Teknik Sipil Indonesia) also participanted in the HMTSP Public Lecture FT UNY.

In this public lecture, Mr. Toriq Arif Ghusdewan explained that Construction Management is a general knowledge that must be mastered by civil engineers, because it has a very large application in the world of civil engineering. He also conveyed how to become a contractor and project supervisor in a safe and profitable way, more specifically how to manage construction effectively and efficiently.

"Before a building is being built, it must be planned (construction management) in advance, because if there is an error, you have to dismantle it, it will waste time, effort, and money"

He also motivated the students to be passionate about learning even though Civil Engineering at UNY is meant to produces educators. But do not rule out the possibility that after graduation students can become contractors, project supervisors, and contractors, because the world of work in civil engineering is very wide.

"UNY Civil Engineering Students will later become educators of contractors, project supervisors, and carpenters so that effective and efficient construction management can be realized"

Meanwhile, four contactors from PT. Prima Andalan Group, whose background is a practitioner, so they place more emphasis on civil engineering in the field. Mr. Ardiansyah explained about the world of work in the field of civil engineering and shared knowledge about running a civil engineering business. Such as buying and selling contractor services, presenting projects with current applications, and how to run projects properly and correctly.
