TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION FOR DRAFTSMAN

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta’s Faculty of Engineering has just entered into a collaboration with the Lembaga Pengembangan Jasa Konstruksi (LPJK) or the Construction Services Development Institute. The collaboration is training and Sertifikasi Ketrampilan (SKT) Level I draftsman for students. LPJK is an institution under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Works whose duties include seeking cooperation with universities and research and development institutions in the region to organize research and development programs for construction services; and organize education and training in construction services and encourage its implementation in other educational and training institutions in their area.

The training was held on Thursday - Saturday, 17 -19 November 2016 at 08:00 to 17:00 WIB. After carrying out the training, the participants who took part were required to take the certification exam, which was held on Monday, 21 November 2016 at the Balai Latihan Pendidikan Teknik (BLPT) D.I. Yogyakarta. The participants of the training and SKT were 20 students of the PTSP Department. Students who took part in the activity were students who were proficient in the field of drawings and Autocad software, most of whom were graduates of Vocational High Schools (SMK) majoring in building or architectural drawings.

The first day of the training was opened with remarks from the Activity Coordinator, namely Mr. Dian Eksana Wibowo, M. Eng, which was followed by material from Dr. Nuryadin Eko W., M.Pd. and Mr. Ikhwanuddin, S.T., M.T. The first day training on drawing work schedules, making reports on drawing results, reading, and diagnosing working drawings, and drawing exercises and practices. The second day of training was delivered by Mr. Yudha Kurniawan, S.T. regarding the application of quality and work requirements; K3 and Environment; and USTK LPJK. On the third day, as the last day of training, Mr. Nur Hidayat, M. Pd., and Mr. Dian Eksana W., M. Eng filled in with practice exam simulation materials and interviews. Monday, 21 November 2016 the implementation of the competency exam includes drawing, writing, and direct interviews accompanied by the Assessor Team from LPJK.

The training and SKT activities ran smoothly. The 20 students who were representatives of the department and were the people selected to take the SKT Drawer Level I carried out the training and exams seriously and all of them passed. The existence of training and SKT is expected to increase the ability and stability of students majoring in PTSP in the world of work. Hope from Mr. Darmono, M.T. as Chair of the PTSP Department is so that students of the PTSP Department can take part in training and SKT although not all of them and the participants are still in stages. Because training and SKT in various fields are needed by students so that later they can take advantage of the certificates they get while working. In addition, he also advised that collaboration with LPJK could continue at other opportunities, either with SKT Draftsman or other skills.
